I am absolutely delighted to announce that through our "Photoshop Guys Guitar Raffle" you guys raised more than the $2,000 needed to get both of the vans back in working order for the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. How cool is that!!!! The raffle ticket sales were $1,575, plus our Spiderlite friends at FJ Wescott & Company donated $100 toward the repair, and my wonderful friend and fellow photographer Janine kicked in $500 to take us over the top, raising a total of $2,175 for the Orphanage. Now, it's time to reveal our winner for the autographed guitar. The winner, picked at random from all the raffle ticket holders, is: Marty Ginter of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Congrats to Marty (we'll be shipping you the guitar soon!). My heartfelt thanks to everyone who kicked in and bought a raffle ticket, and even though you may…

Scott Kelby Workshop - BTS from Dave Cross on Vimeo. Last week, I had the opportunity to do something I rarely get to do; an intimate hands-on class where my students and I get to shoot and retouch alongside each other all day long. Dave Cross (Canadian Photoshop Ninja) invited me to teach this one-day workshop at his new studios just outside Tampa, Florida, and I have to say, it was a really wonderful experience. I was following Joel Grimes, who had just had his workshop at Dave's place the week before (if I hadn't been in Canada, I would have paid to be in Joel's class myself), and I have to say---Dave's studios is really set up perfectly for this type of intimate workshop; with a good-sized fully-equiped studio, a really comfortable set-up for both the students and instructors, and he even brought…

Thanks to Scott and Brad for having me a guest blogger, especially for this piece today. It’s about an assignment that is near and dear to me. As a way of introduction: I’ve been a commercial photographer now for over 30 years. Spent 4 years getting my BFA in photography at RIT, about 5 years assisting in New York after that, and now 30 years being on my own has, as we photographers say, flashed by. I’ve been very, very lucky at having some really great long-term clients, who are the exception rather than the rule for commercial, business-to-business photographers. Over the years if there is one job that I would want to define my career it would be an assignment I’ve now done for 16 out of the last 17 years. We just finished shooting a few weeks ago for the Toys R…
