Tour Dates for my “Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it, Tour”

This are just some of the dates from the first leg of my new nationwide “Light it, Shoot it, Retouch It” tour, but since we have these dates already locked down, I thought I’d share them.

·  Boston, MA – Thursday, March 24th
·  Minneapolis, MN – Monday, April 4th
·  Indianapolis, IN – Wednesday, April 6th
·  Chicago, IL – Thursday, April 7th

Here’s how each session is structured
(1) I start each session with an empty stage and then I build the lighting set-up for a particular kind of lighting look from scratch, explaining everything as I go, all step-by-step.

(2) Then, I actually do a portrait shoot live in each class, sharing all the camera settings, lighting settings, and exactly what you need to do to nail that type of look.

(3) Finally, I take those images into Photoshop to show you how to do all the post processing, including editing the Raw image, all the portrait retouching techniques, and the finishing effects, so you see the entire process, from beginning to end, with nothing left out.

Not only will you be able to nail all these exact same looks, (using a simple, inexpensive studio lighting set-up), but best of all you’ll learn all the post processing techniques as well.

This all takes place in every class session, all day long—–the lighting set-up, then the shooting, and then all the post processing for every set-up, and every look.

I hope you’ll join me in one of these cities. It’s only $99 for the full day of training (or $79 for NAPP members), and includes a detailed, step-by-step workbook that follows along exactly with what I’m doing in the class.

As soon as the rest of cities and dates are locked down, I’ll announce those here too. I am super psyched about this tour, and I can’t wait to get there with you guys. Here’s the link to the full class schedule, or to sign up. I hope I get to see you in person soon. :)

  1. Scott–

Are you ever able to make it personally to the west coast for these kinds of tours? Seattle or Portland perhaps?? We are missing you over here!

    1. HI Justin:
On the West Coast I’ll be doing Los Angeles, and San Francisco I believe. Portland is possible (I taught a tour there last year). Dates as soon as they’re firm. :)

      1. Please consider Seattle. Just ask Matt about the course he taught for you last November at the Seattle Convention Center. It was packed!

    1. Hi Michael.
I brought one of my tours to London this past year, and had a wonderful day. I hope we get to bring this new tour there this year. I’ll be keeping my finger’s crossed.

      1. Praise the Lord, you’re coming to the Philly area Scott. Awesome! Hoping to make it.

        Be well,
        Jose

  2. Scott:

    Hope you come to Boston soon……oh, wait…. :D :D

I’m surprised that you are having a class the week before before the Photoshop World conference, as I am sure the Kelby Media people are scurrying around to get that all set. But I won’t complain. I’ll see if I can make the March 24th Boston date. Certainly helps to be a NAPP member!!

I noticed one mistake on the registration page. It lists your second class of the day as running from 1:30 to 12:30 PM. It should read as starting at 11:30 AM.

  3. Just when I thought this was the perfect time for me to attend your seminar in Boston, and I was about to book when I suddenly realize the 3/24 pm, is when I fly to Dallas for work. It’s frustrating…, let’s hope next time it’s the right one! Have a good one.

  4. Scott, would it be possible to post a list of all the equipment used in the image of the light it shoot it tour? And maybe links to purchase each item? What is that holding the fan?
    Thx
    Debbi

  5. Scott, when you come to San Francisco, be sure to save an evening. We’ll get Bill Fortney here too and have wood fired pizza and almond smoked ribs at our house.

  6. Scott,

I’m absolutely stoked that you are coming to Indianapolis! I was unable to attend the last time you were there. This will be my very first seminar in my 4 years of being a NAPP member. Can’t wait man. Really looking forward to it :)

  7. Sweet Scott, Kicking it off in Boston with Style! and right before PSW. Gonna be lighting overload for me. Light It, Shoot it, Retouch It. Then PSW in Orlando, then the next weekend the Flash Bus tour! It’s gonna be a great way to start April!!!

  8. A short visit to Germany would be absolutely great… or scottly speaking,
phenomenal, overwhelming – I guess I learnt half of my adjectives in
Photoshopuser TV. Though I am living in Austria – the one without the
kangaroos ;-) – I would at least try to get to our neighboring country.

    Have a nice day!

  9. Hey Scott
My question is will the students be able to physically shoot and then say they have a laptop then go through the post work and learn first hand? What is the class limit? cause 99$ is great and all, but it seems that alot of people are going to sign up and I feel would take away from a smaller group size with more hands on learning.
    thanks
    Andrew

  10. Hi Scott –

I realize everyone is yanking you in all sorts of directions so I ask with a twinge of selfishness – Any chance of a return visit to Hartford? It’s been a few years for ‘ya… And you rocked downtown better than the civic center!

    We need ‘ya!

    :-)

    Doug

      1. Hi Scott –

Shucks! But thank you very much for the personal / kind reply!

Mohegan Sun! Yup, between the Sun, Foxwoods & Photography – it take great discipline to pay the bills. ;-)

Well, I’ve been enjoying / learning w/ Photo Recipes 2, PS CS5 for Digital Photographers and have pre-ordered Pro Portariat Retouching Techniques for Photographers Using PS – So, I’ll just piece together (cough) my version of a seminar.

        :-)

        Take care!

        Doug

  11. Seen ya several times and learned SOOO much everytime. Don’t think I can afford to make this tour though unfortunately. Missed WPPI and ImagingUSA this year too. Damned economy is killing me. Good luck and knock em dead!!!

  12. Hey Scott!

I’m glad to hear that you are coming to Minneapolis! I just learned two awesome tricks tonight from your Lightroom 3 book. Thanks for that!

Your method of teaching (all of the NAPP people really…) has helped me a great deal over the years.

Quick question: Since I would have to take a vacation day – Would you pose for a picture at the workshop? NOTE: Dave Cross did. lol

    Thank you

    Oh, and Go Bears!

  13. I have to ask… why is there a testimonial on the course information webpage when this is the first offering of this class? Or did people in the test class(es) have to pony up the $99? =) Anyways… looks like a great class – hoping for one to come to the Georgia/Alabama region!
