Tyler's Bio Photos and Family Photos

Filmmaking On The Edge: Tyler Stableford’s New Film “Shattered” Hi all, I am honored to introduce my short film Shattered, shot on Canon’s new EOS-1D X camera. This has been a true dream project, and today I am excited to share both the film and three behind-the-scenes episodes. Thank you, Scott and Brad, for your interest in the project! Shattered is a deep journey into the mind of the legendary high-altitude alpinist and writer Steve House. While reading Steve's award-winning book Beyond The Mountain last year, one of his revelations really struck me. Steve confessed that after he succeeded in climbing his dream route on Nanga Parbat, he returned home bereft, more broken than when he had begun his great quest. I knew immediately there was a short film in this unexpected emptiness. Shattered is not so much a climbing film as it is…

Tonight I'm trying something I've never done before --- a live online photography talk called "Connecting with Cuba" which is about my recent photo trip to Havana, Cuba (see yesterday's blog for some shots from my photo book). It's free and everyone's invited to join me live tonight at 6:00 pm ET as I talk about everything from the challenges of shooting in Cuba to my impressions of the Nikon D800 after my first serious shoot with the camera (along with my one major gripe with it). My friend, photographer RC Concepcion will be interviewing me as part of the presentation, and I'll be talking about lens selection, travel photography tips, how to get to visit Cuba yourself, the wonderful spirit of the people of Cuba, the music, the food, the images, my Lightroom post processing of the images from the trip and the frustration…

It's a place I'd never thought I'd actually get to go, but when a good friend invited Kalebra and I to join of group of their friends (14 of us in all) for a Cultural Exchange trip to Havana, we were all over it. I always just thought it was all but impossible for an American to visit Cuba without skirting all sorts of official rules (going through mexico or Costa Rica first, and then kind of slinking in without the US State Dept. knowing), but there were Americans EVERYWHERE down there. I even ran into a National Geographic Photo Tour down there, and once we were there we learned that our tour guide had taken our friend Laurie Excell's photo workshop there earlier this year. Small world, and getting smaller every day. Havana is such an amazing place! Absolutely beautiful and very…

http://blip.tv/moose-peterson/ipad-bt-journal-15-4-6189079 Hey gang, Brad Moore here with some great news... Moose Peterson has just released the next issue of his iPad version of the BT Journal and man, have they packed in the content! There is no doubt he loves to teach when you see the 30 minutes of video content, 28 pages of written text, the oodles and oodles of photographs, and the giant captions this issue packs inside its, covers. Moose his son Brent, who produce the iPad version, have over 140 hours in just the production of this issue, and it shows. I really love the spinning D4, now that's fun! Oh, the issue is about the D4 sort of, how you make the most of the body you have and how to select a new body to buy. Moose did a wonderful job talking about incorporating the D4 into his shooting…
