It’s Free Stuff Thursday!

The Business Side of Ed Greenberg: Copyright Protection for Photographers
As part of our ever-growing lineup of business classes, copyright attorney Ed Greenberg sat down with Mia McCormick for an in-depth interview on the importance of copyright for photographers in his class The Business Side of Ed Greenberg: Copyright Protection for Photographers. Don’t let the name fool you though, copyright isn’t the only thing he talks about… He shares stories about model releases, contracts, and dealing with copyright infringement as well (the name of the class was already long enough though, so it’s kinda hard to fit all that in there ;-)

So, head on over to KelbyTraining.com today to have your questions answered by one of the toughest New York City attorneys in the business, and leave a comment for your chance to win a free 3-day rental of this class!

  1. I’m working now to change schedule to make PSW Orlando, hope I can make it. Raising 2 grands, it’s hard to leave the wife holding everything for a week but trying.

  2. Would gladly pay to see Ed’s class. He and Jack Reznicki are merciless against those who think it wise to rip-off photographers and at the same time are very helpful in being the ringside coaches for the little guy against the heavey-weight champion big companies. Without their presence, I would basically be guessing my way as a commercial photographer rather than knowing how the industry works, and how to avoid the pitfalls.

I was not paid to say this even though it totally sounds like it.

  3. I would love to ask Ed a question. As a Photoshop Designer what is his opinion on working on other’s images. If someone hires you to work on their images are you responsible if THEY did not follow all the copyright laws.

    1. I’m not quite sure I understand your question. IF you are asking whether a re-toucher gains or can properly register a copyright in an image created by another person, the answer is “no”. If I have just answered a question that you didn’t ask, please as they say in my business, “rephrase”.

  4. I have a question for Ed. When it comes to portraits, wedding, editorial and commercial; do you need to have different contracts or does one for all types work and you just have to modify? ON the other note, I just received my brochure yesterday from PSW, man I would love to head down there, not only it will be the first time for me, but gosh I can just imagine all the teachings and networking i can get out of it… Hint hint……. :)

  5. The photographic artistry workshop in NYC looks really cool. I’d love to win a ticket to that for March 19.

Ed’s videos on Kelbytraining.com are a fantastic resource. So is his book he wrote for photographers. Definitely worth checking out his interview.

  6. I have Ed’s book that he co-authored with Jack Reznicki, “Photographer’s Survival Manual: A Legal Guide for Artists in the Digital Age,” and I would really like to win and see a related “movie.”

  7. The seminars by Ben that I attended in the past were excellent. With my
    >
current main interest being compositing using Photoshop, I would
    really
    > appreciate a free ticket to his seminar in Washington, DC on March 20th.
