Some Quick, Yet Important, Friday Stuff

Hey Gang: Just a few quick things to take you into the weekend:

(1) I messed up on my class title at Canon’s theater at WPPI
Earlier in the week I said I’d be teaching Sports Photography classes in Canon’s booth, but thankfully I was way off (I gotta stop posting these things really late at night when I’m half asleep). Instead I’ll be doing three presentations where I’ll be covering how to make great portrait images using everything from natural light to hot shoe flash to strobes.

Here’s my WPPI Canon booth teaching schedule:
> Monday at 10:45 am
> Monday at 3:15 pm
> Tuesday at  11:30 am

Hope I’ll see you at one of these in Vegas next week.

(2) I’m working on Part 5 of my “The Digital Photography Book” series
I’m knee deep in the hoopla of writing the 5th part in my series, and this one is totally based on the most popular chapter in the previous four books — my “Photo Recipes” chapter, which is the last chapter in each of the books (so the new book will be titled “The Digital Photography Book, Part 5: Photo Recipes”).

I’m pretty excited about it because instead of just having one final image on one page and then describing the recipe on how to get that type of shot, I’m able to use two-page spreads for each look with a behind-the-scenes image to better illustrate the technique and I’m pretty psyched how it’s coming out. It’ll be out later this year (you’ll be the first to know). :)

(3) First, look at that list above. Amazing, right!
There’s only once place on earth where they all come together for three days to teach you everything from Photoshop to Photography, Lighting to Lightroom, and that’s The Photoshop World Conference in Atlanta. It’s next month (OK, well April 8-10th). You can meet them in person, be inspired in their classes, and learn their secrets and techniques for three solid days.

If you’ve never been to Photoshop World and experienced this for yourself, now’s your chance (save $100 by beating the Early Bird deadline). Here’s the link — come join me and them PLUS other amazing instructors like:

Bill Fortney, Brian Smith, Russell Preston Brown, Aaron Blaise, Alan Hess, Brian Hughes, Colin Smith, Eddie Tapp, Jack Reznicki, Ed Greenberg, Erik Valind, Felix Nelson, Fay Sircis, Jack Davis, Helene Glassman, Jason Groupp, Jim Divitale, Kevin Ames, Larry Becker, Joe Glyda, Pete Collins and Vincent Versace.

OK, I gotta run — taping a class with Dave Black today (Whoo Hoo!).
Hope you all have a great weekend, and we’ll see you back here on Monday. Cheers. :)

  1. Part 5 sounds great. Will this be similar to your two Photo Recipes books, sans the DVD’s, that you put out a few years ago?

    Have a great weekend!
