Man, publishing a digital magazine should just not be this hard. First, our developer came out with a bug fix update, but because of a small technicality in the submission process, it got turned down (uggh), but now, at last, finally it's out, along with the latest issue (the cover is shown above). The bug fix addresses problems some users had with downloading back issues they had already purchased, and a bunch of other annoying stuff. We still have a few more bugs we're working on squashing, and our developer thinks they have now tracked down the subscription problem a small number of users are still suffering with, and we'll be submitting an update to the App Store that should put that nasty problem to bed. Whew!!! It's almost makes me miss print (nobody ever rejects your printed copies. Well, maybe the post office).…

We just released our latest issue of Light It Magazine (our how-to magazine for hot shoe flash and studio lighting) and it's our biggest issue yet. It's available in the Apple Newsstand on the iPad (coming soon for Android), and it's only $2.99 (all back issues are there, too for $2.99 or you can subscribe for $19.95 for a full year -- 8 issues). Lots of great stuff in this issue, including more lighting for wedding photographers, lighting pets with hot shoe flash, lighting children, location lighting, and tons more. I hope you give it read (here's the link to it on the App store). :)

OK, it took us a long, long, long time to get this all working, and approved by Apple, but I'm happy to announce that "Light It Magazine" (our how-to magazine for hot shoe and studio lighting) is now available in the Apple Newstand on your iPad, and you can now subscribe there as well (A one-year subscription; 8 issues, is $19.95 [about $2.50 an issue]). To access it via Newsstand, first get the latest free update to our app (Version 1.2) from the App store and your app icon will move from it's current location) and subscriptions ($19.99 for 8 issues) are now available! Since the subscription service is new (and lots of readers already have issues 1-5) the subscription starts with the most recent issue, which is issue 5. (Issue 6 is on the way!). :) Thanks to everybody who helped to make…

Issue 5 of Light It Magazine is now available! Brad Moore here to tell you a little about it :) This issue features tips from Jim Schmelzer on the importance of subtractive lighting: Photo Recipes from Scott Kelby: My personal favorite, the Gear Watch section ;) : Plus Tom Bol on sports portraiture, Erik Valind on high-speed sync with small flash, Kevin Ames on reflectance, Jason Groupp on what to do with stage lighting during wedding receptions, an interview with Frank Doorhof, sixty seconds with stock photographer Nicole S. Young, and work from featured photographers Sean Arbabi and Jennifer Wu. If you don't already have the free Light It Magazine app, download it from the iTunes store and grab the first issue for free. Each issue after that is only $2.99, a hard deal to beat for valuable info from the people listed above! And, if you're an Android user who's been asking for Light It on your…

Just a quick update for the folks that have been having a hard time downloading either issues #2 or #3: (1) What's driving us crazy, is the download problem is only happening a few users which makes it harder to track down. In our offices, all of our employees that downloaded issue's 2 and 3 had no problem except one woman. She has an iPad 2, she downloaded the free update from the App store, and everything seems to be set perfectly, but for some reason she still can't download issue #2, but she can download issue #3 no problem (uggh!). Either way; we're working on it. (2) One fix that has worked for a lot of people is to do this: Go to settings, and turn Restrictions ON. Under Allowed Content make sure In-App Purchases is ON. (If it is already, then toggle OFF,…

NOTE: Whatever you do, stop right now and get the FREE UPDATE from the App store. This is an important bug fix so download it right away. Now, onto our story: After taking what seemed to be 5 lifetimes to approve issue #2, issue #3 is already here and ready for downloading! (Whoo Hoo). It's an awesome issue, which includes a very cool article from Jason Groupp on "Lighting for Weddings," plus Frank Doorhof's "Studio Techniques," My "Photo Recipes" column, Tom Bol on "Location Lighting," Erik Valind with "Little Lights, Big Shadows" and our feature story is "Visualizing Lighting for a Composite Image" is from James Quantz, Jr. Don't wait----go download that puppy now! P.S. Did I mention that you need to download the free update from the App store?  :)
