Photoshop Wars (sponsored by iStockphoto) are back at the Photoshop World Expo!

The newest Photoshop Guy, Pete Collins, squared off against Jeremy Cowart and got his butt kicked all over the place! (Okay, it was actually a tie, but Pete deserves all the ribbing we can give him) ;)

Hey gang, Brad Moore here with a quick update from Photoshop World Las Vegas! Just wanted to share a few shots from the keynote with you. All images were shot by myself, Josh Bradley, and Jim Sykes.

Attendees anxiously await the opening of the doors before the keynote starts

Here’s the excited crowd as they’re coming into the keynote this morning (including Brandon Jacoby, the youngest Adobe ACE right up front)!

We’re broadcasting the Photoshop World Opening Keynote LIVE, (hosted by yours truly) with a special presentation from Adobe today at 9:00 am  PDT (just 1 hour and 30 min from now), live from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

You can watch it live at — Hope you can join us!

Here’s a free time zone converter to help you tune in at the right time:

If you’re going to Photoshop World, here’s just a couple of things to keep in mind so you have an insanely awesome experience:

1) Bring your camera
The folks at FJ Westcott lighting set up a series of live model shoots with elaborate sets, and it’s all lit, ready for you to shoot. It’s hands-down one of the most popular, and talked about, parts of the entire expo and the attendees rave about it. No experience with studio lighting necessary because they’re using Continuous Lighting with their Spiderlite TD-6s. You can just walk up and start shooting.

2) If it’s your first time ever at Photoshop World….
Make sure you attend one of the free “First Time Attendee Orientation” classes. I promise you, it’ll be worth your while. They are held Tuesday at 3:15 pm and at 5:15 pm at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

3) Make it a point to see at least one of the classes from these folks:
Frank Doorhof, Jeremy Cowart, Joel Grimes, Dave Black, Cliff Mautner, or Gregory Heisler, even if the topic they’re teaching isn’t what you’d normally go to see. These are some of the newer instructors, and they’re simply amazing. You’ll be glad you did.

4) We are streaming the opening keynote LIVE
If you can’t be there in person, you can watch it broadcast and “Share the love” with Nancy and crew (in the Morning Zoo!). Follow this link on Wednesday morning starting around 8:45 am EDT.

5) There a free Expo Pass For You
If you’re anywhere near Las Vegas don’t forget to go to the site and get your FREE Expo Floor pass. Lots of vendors, classes on the show floor, demos, and goodies to be had!

6) Look for photos from Photoshop World right here
Each day we’ll be posting images from Photoshop World here on the blog (mostly taken by Brad Moore himself), but of course, the conference each day doesn’t start until morning Pacific time, so I hope you’ll check back later in the day to see the images from the event as it unfolds.

7) Here’s what I’m teaching and when:

Wednesday 9/7:
9:00am        I’m hosting the opening Keynote
12:00pm      Photoshop Portrait Retouching class

Thursday 9/8:
12:00 pm     “Photoshop for Travel Photographers”
4:00 pm      Book signing for my “Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it” Book at the Peachpit Bookstore
10:00 pm      I’m co-hosting the incredibly fun “Midnight Madness” event

Friday 9/9:
2:15pm      Lightroom Killer Tips class
3:45 pm    The Wrap-up Rally

8) Go to the Tweet-up (even if you don’t use Twitter)
Nancy’s Tweet-up has grown to become its own “thing” at Photoshop World, and it’s an awful lot of fun (and even if it isn’t, you can send out tweets that make it sound like it’s the coolest thing ever, and everybody that’s not there is a total loser). ;-)

It’s outside at what I jokingly call “near poolside” and it’s totally just a fun hangout, but it is fun (most of the instructors will be there, and we all just hang out and chat with everybody, plus Erik Valand (my guest blogger last week) plus Brian Matiash and crew will all be there with a “pop-up studio”, so make sure you stop by. It’s at 7:30 pm at the “Bayview Court North” at Mandalay Bay.

That’s it for now gang.
If you’re going to Photoshop World, make sure you stop me and say “hi.” Have a great week everybody, and don’t forgot to stop by here and catch some of the action from Vegas! :)

Hi Gang: I know it’s not “Pimpy Thursday” but a couple of things came up that I need to let you know ASAP:

(1) You need to download the Kelby Training iPad App Free Update
The major overhaul and update to the Kelby Training Website caused a bunch of server issues that caught us by surprise, and part of the fallout included problems with the App—so much so that we had to release a update so it works at all. Shawn did sneak a few new features in (like a favorites feature), but for the App to work at all, you’re going to need to go to the App store and download the free update. Sorry for all the trouble, and thanks so much for your patience—we’re working to make the site iPad/Android friendly, and to deliver a much better player and a better experience all around, but apparently that doesn’t come without growing pains.

(2) We had to extend the Photoshop World Early Bird discount
With our sites bring down unexpectedly for a couple of days last week, we had loads of requests to extend the $100 off Early Bird discount, so we are—-until Friday, August 12th. Here’s the link with details and/or to sign-up. Jump on it today!

(3) Stay where the Instructors Stay
If you want to snag a room at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino (the same hotel all the instructor, staff, and I stay at), at the special Photoshop World rate of $129, there are only a few rooms left in our block, so go to the Photoshop World travel page and grab your room now. They’re also offering $149 at “The Hotel” at Mandalay Bay (a trendy boutique hotel attached to the Mandalay Bay). See you in Vegas!

(4) RC’s new “HDR Crash Course” App for iPad and iPhone is here!
That’s right—RC’s new App that teaches you how to shoot and process HDR like a pro just hit the App store and right now it’s only $9.95 (sweet!). Here’s the link (or get it from the App store on your IOS device).

That’s it for now. Don’t forget to read the following post today, so it’s not just Pimpy Tuesday. ;-)

There’s only 4 days left to register for next month’s Photoshop World Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada and still save $100 with the Early Bird Registration discount. In honor of that, I’m running: “Photoshop World: The Movie” above (just watch the video—it really makes you want to be a part of it all). NOTE: I did not approve the music. Just so you know. (yeech!).

Here are 10 reasons why you should be there:

– 100+ classes all aimed at helping you hone your skills (link)

– Learning and interacting with seasoned “pros” willing to share their knowledge (link)

– Hands-on pre-conference workshops that will help kick start your PSW experience (link)

– Can’t-miss bonus classes to expand your knowledge (link)

– Beyond the classroom opportunities to network with fellow attendees and instructors (link)

– The chance to discover the hottest new products and services on the market (link)

– The opportunity to have your work recognized (link)

– A VIP Experience like no other (link)

– PSW hotel rates that’ll have you living in luxury for less! (link)

– The Conference is open to everyone, and if you’re not already a NAPP member, a full one-year membership is included in your full conference pass. (link)

I hope I’ll get to shake your hand, and see you in my class sessions in Vegas next month. Ask anyone who has been to Photoshop World—it’s a career changing experience wrapped inside an awful lot of fun (we have a “Fashion” theme this year. That’s all I’m sayin’).

Remember to save that $100 bucks. Here’s the link to sign up. See you on the Vegas strip!
