We’re just five days away, and right now we have over 23,000 photographers signed-up for 1,100 local walks around the world this Saturday and Sunday, Oct 1st and 2nd. We are totally excited and amazed at the worldwide participation and sense of community this has created, and I can’t wait for my walk on Saturday to get here (and to see the images Sunday brings). If you haven't signed up for a Walk Yet.... It's not too late. Here's the link---find a city near you, and sign up to be a part of your local walk. Seven Tips for Walkers Last year, I gave seven tips for walkers to help you make the most of your walk, and I’ve got those here for you again. If you’re going to be walking with us this weekend, take a moment to give these  a quick read:…

Here's a quick look at what's going on: > With a little more than a month to go, today, we've got 770 walks around the world up and running, and more than 12,600 photographers already signed up to be a part of their local walks. Sweet!!! > LEADERS: We're adding a competition just for Walk Leaders, so they can submit an image they took during their walk, and compete just against other walk leaders (and not their walkers), for a really great prize (which we're working on now). More details shortly. > LEADERS: We still have some cities that have applied for walks but haven't been approved yet. We've got two people working on it every day, but it's quite a backlog, and we're cranking away at them as quickly as possible, so if you've applied for walk and haven't heard anything, you should…

Once again, we’ve got some really cool t-shirts for walkers and leaders this year (one of the shirt designs are seen here), and once again (with the gracious help of Rob Jones of Towner Jones Photography), we're using this to give back as 100% of the profits go directly to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya (last year we raised over $7,000 to feed and cloth the children), and this year we’re hoping, with your help, to hit $10,000 (which they could really, really use!). There are a number of different styles (and even Hoodies and sweatshirts since its in October), so I hope you'll pick one up and show your support for the walk, and more importantly for the Springs of Hope Orphanage. :) Here’s a link to order yours today (The link for Walk Leaders "Leader" shirts is on your Leader Dashboard. At…

Ask anyone who has volunteered to lead a Photo Walk as part of my Worldwide Photo Walk and they'll tell you it's a lot of time and hard work. It's also very rewarding in a lot of ways (not to mention the book they receive for leading a walk, but let me tell you---no one goes through all that trouble for just a free book). They do it because they want to do something special for the photographers in their community. The downside of being a leader Of course, besides the hard work, the downside is that the leaders don't get to compete to win any prizes (they already get the local prize their walkers are competing for), and that's why this year we thought it would be fun to add a special competition just for Photo Walk leaders. Now, they get to submit…

(Above: Last year's group from the Geelong-Waterfront, Australia Photo Walk) I'm getting these questions a lot, so to add extra drama I added the adjective "Burning" so you might actually read it. I learned this technique from Fox television. ;-) Here we go: (Above: Last year's group from the Columbia, South Carolina, USA Photo Walk) (1) Why isn't there a walk in my city? It's because there isn't a walk in your city. Yet. We're approving a bunch of walks today, so if you didn't see it yesterday it's either that we haven't approved one yet, or maybe it's that nobody has applied to lead a walk there yet (or perhaps the leader that led one there last year, didn't reactivate their walk quite yet. Just check back in a day or so and there will likely be a walk in your city you…
