  • I love my iPhone 4. I couldn’t live without. It rocks. Except yesterday, when it totally burned me and made me miss my flight to shoot the Colts/Titans game up in Indy. I haven’t missed a flight in years.

OK, I kind of burned myself—here’s why: I read Engadget.com every day (Great blog by the way. One of the best), and on Saturday I saw a headline where it said a bug would cause the iPhone 4’s alarm not to sound on New Years day. However, I didn’t read the entire article, which said it wouldn’t work on Jan 2nd either, UNLESS you set your alarm to be a reoccurring alarm (the magic workaround).

My flight to Indianapolis was booked for 6:20 am out of Tampa on Jan 2nd *(because the game had originally been scheduled for a 1:00 pm kickoff, but the NFL moved to 4:15 pm). Anyway, I set my alarm for 4:30 am to make my flight. But it never went off.

I woke when I saw some early morning light coming in my bedroom. I looked at my iPhone, and it was already 6:00 am. I jumped out of bed, freaking out! I looked at the alarm to see if I had set it incorrectly (even though I had triple-checked it). It looks just like what you see above (I took the screen cap off my iPhone 4 tonight, with the alarm still set, but I didn’t have an iPhone 4 body handy to put it in, so it’s in an older body).

Anyway, luckily Delta came to the rescue. The agent asked if I could make it to the airport fast to catch the next flight, but I had to get my bag checked in 25 minutes from that minute. I did (with one minute to spare), and I made to the game on time, and had a freakin’ ball!!!!! (More on that tomorrow).

Anyway, it’s the first time my iPhone ever burned me, so I’m going to let it off the hook. Unless it course, it made me miss my flight home today. ;-)
