It’s 6:24 am, and I’m in Chicago (Ted flight; row 6, seat C) heading home (it’s my third flight today, after a red-eye home from San Francisco). I’ll have a full Yosemite recap later once I have a cup of my wife’s incredible coffee, and give my little baby girl a big, big, hug! :)
If you watch Photoshop TV, they’ve by now you’re very familiar with Dave Cross’s tradition of wearing a “Canada-shirt’ of some kind on every single show. In fact, it’s a different Canada shirt nearly every single episode, which means Dave must spend a significant amount of his discretionary time searching for new and different Canada shirts, and in fact Dave himself points to this is the reason why he hasn’t had the time to get his Masters degree (kidding). Anyway, Dave is auctioning (via eBay) some of these “worn once on TV” shirts (which come witha signed copy of Dave’s latest book), with the proceeds going to a wondeful cause; St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Yesterday, CNET reported that Adobe’s CEO Bruce Chizen noted that a free Web-based version of Photoshop would be released this later this year, and that Adobe would make money off it by selling Web advertising (ala Google). Apparently, this version won’t have the full feature set of either Photoshop CS3 or Elements 5, but will be a special version created just for the Web. Either way; I gotta tell ya—I didn’t see this one coming.
Double Exposure is running a great interview with Dan Steinhardt (we all know him as “Dano”), who is Epson’s Marketing Manager for their pro products, but beyond the interview are his images. I’ve been a fan of Dan’s photography ever since he showed me some of his recent shots on the screen of an Epson P-4000 over dinner. He shoots a particular style that I just love (I’ve always called it Urban photography or City Life, but I’m sure there’s an official name for it), but anyway, his stuff just really speaks to me. I love his sense of color, his treatment of architecture, and how he blends people and their stories into these surroundings.
So, first I’m going to send you to his online gallery, and then to the interview, because although there’s a link to a sample of his work at the top of the interview page, but I think his own gallery gives you a much better feel for what Dano shoots.

It’s the Japanese version of Apple’s popular “I’m a Mac/I’m a PC” TV ad campaign, and although you might not be able to understand a word of Japanese, you’ll still get a kick out of the ads. In fact, you might laugh more than you do at the US versions. :)
