In the past few months, since RC and I picked up the reins from Matt over at we have really been putting up a ton of cool Lightroom tips, techniques and tutorials on there.

For example, today I’ve got a really cool tip on how to get a “Fade” effect (like we have in Photoshop) over in Lightroom when you use the Adjustment Brush.  On Monday I did a post called “7 Really Useful Lightroom Shortcuts” that a lot of folks said they really found helpful. Last week, RC did a short, quick, right to the point “Start to Finish in Five Minutes Black & White” portrait conversion, and basically we’re adding new stuff every weekday (we’ve even had some awesome guests already with lots more to come).

We’ve done some great giveaways there, too (today we’re giving away FIVE copies of Jay Maisel’s book, “Light, Gesture & Color”) and we’re really starting to have some great community interaction, input, and fun, and if you haven’t been checking me and RC out there regularly, I sure hope you’ll give us a look.

OK, so that’s basically it â” if you’re into learning more about Lightroom, I hope you’ll come check us out.

P.S. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to post here yesterday. We took a weekend trip with my son to celebrate his 18th birthday and we didn’t get back until yesterday. My little boy is all grown up (sniff, sniff). But what a man he’s turned out to be. Could not be prouder!

  1. Well, I’ll have to start checking out this site. I haven’t been over there since Matt left.
I’m excited to see that Jared “The Fro” Polin will be on the Grid tomorrow. It’s about time! You should have Julio and Jared compare hair and we’ll vote for the best! :-)

  2. The Lightroom Killer Tips feature continues to be outstanding. I’d appreciate seeing an occasional posting on how Lightroom and Photoshop do the same thing — only differently.

  3. Is it too much to ask what theme you use on the Lightroom site? I really enjoyed the seven quick tips the other day.

    • I wondered the same myself. A quick look at the page’s source code would suggest they’re using the Nexus theme from Elegant Themes is a fantastic source for themes; their Divi2 theme is amazing!

  4. That’s what I listen to podcasts for, learning that one tip that makes life easier!!

  5. John, when I first saw the post I thought Scott had hired “Fro” :)

  6. The way you spent Monday was much more important than posting here.

  7. I’ve tried 3 times today to leave a comment on the lightroomkillertips site through 3 different browsers for a chance at Jay’s book and none have gone through. I’ve called kelbyone but who I spoke to couldn’t tell me why this was happening. So I left a comment on your google + site and now here. I still don’t know why my comments aren’t getting through. Could there be problem on your end??
