I’m Back from 48-hours on an Aircraft Carrier….

…but I still don’t have a full blog post about this amazing experience, and the incredible of team of people who make a modern aircraft carrier work with extraordinary precision. I just finally got through the images just last night (long story), but there’s so much to tell I couldn’t get it done it time for today’s post. (iPhone photo above by Ed Buice).

I’m going to show some images and talk about the shoot on tomorrow’s live episode of “The Grid” and hopefully later today I’ll post some of the images to my Facebook and Google+ pages as well. My goal is to have the full post for here on the blog by Friday, so I hope you’ll stop by one of those spots beforehand or I’ll see you on Friday (of course, tomorrow is “Guest Blog Wednesday” and Thursday is “Free Stuff Thursday” as always).

Cheers,

-Scott

  1. Awesome, Scott! I can’t wait to see the photos and get the story behind it! I love airplanes and I love aircraft carriers! We use to live in San Diego and we always went to the Miramar airshow and down to the pier when the ships came in. I’ll be checking out your Grid show tomorrow for sure!

  2. I thought your New Year’s resolution was to not slack as much? It’s not even February yet. (Kidding. Looking forward to all the text and pix)

  3. No way! My wife is the SMO on CVN 77! I’m really looking forward to the Grid and that full blog post! If she had occasion to meet you I sure hope she recognized your name from all of those books on the shelf. ;)
    Go Navy!!!

  4. Hey Scott, I’m so glad you finally got to have this experience. I’m just sorry that I wasn’t able to provide you with it. I was really hoping to get back into the inner circle :)

  5. Gee Scott, you lead such a dull life, I don’t know how you can stand it. Most of us subject to such ongoing boredom would surely have to consider placing ourselves under psychiatric care. Somehow you manage to persevere despite days (and no doubt nights) filled with one soul-destroying experience after another. My hat is off to you :)

  6. Awesome pictures. I really the close up of the pilot. Brilliant shot that. Makes me go ahead and take a tour on a old war ship in Mumbai, though there are no planes or people on it, would definitely make a great photo walk.

  7. Scott, can’t wait to see your pics!!! I was blessed to spend 5 days on the Stennis back in 2007. What an amazing experience and an incredible bunch of dedicated young men and women who work their tails off around the clock to make that ship and those aircraft do their job. My hats off to the Navy. Also, I saw you a couple times at Imaging USA last week but you were always busy with someone…was your brother with you at one point?
