On Wednesday’s episode of the Grid, late in the show (around the 50-minute mark) we explained and then showed a killer example of exactly why we’re so disappointed that the new iPhone 14 Pro camera doesn’t have a 10x Optical zoom, and precisely what the new iPhone’s camera cannot do. When you see this example, you will totally get it.
The video below starts right were we start talking about the new iPhone issue, so if you hit play, you’ll right where all the fireworks start (and if you scroll back right before this, you’ll hear a shocking news update about the Chicken Sandwich Wars). Anyway, check out the video below:
That’s why we’re so disappointed. Sigh. Well, in much more fun news….
I am psyched to be teaching at the just announced OPTIC WEST 2022 Conference
The awesome annual OPTIC Conference (The outdoor photo/video/travel imaging conference) has always been held in New York City (and hosted and produced by the folks at B&H Photo), but for the first time ever it’s now headed to the West Coast – to beautiful Monterey, California this November, and I’m honored to be doing one of the keynote presentations (along with legendary National Geographic photographer, author, and speaker Frans Lanting) and an incredible team of instructors.
It’s an amazing event, which includes: a Whale Watching expedition aboard the Monterey Princess, with gear from Nikon, Sony, Sigma, and Canon available for you to borrow. There are Macro Photo Sets, a Workflow Pavilion where you can edit and print your work, and the OPTIC Challenge where photographs can be taken at a multitude of natural sets professionally illuminated with Genaray Lighting. You can also enter your work in a gallery contest with prizes for the winners. There is an opening night cocktail reception and of course, lots and lots of great classes taught by that top-notch instructor team over the two days.
You can register to attend the in-person event or virtual online – here’s the link with info and to reserve your spot. After teaching at the OPTIC Conference in New York earlier this year, I can tell you – this is an event you absolutely do not want to miss.
I’m delighted to have one of my images chosen as a Gold Winner in the European Photography Awards
I cannot tell you how delighted I was when I got the email this week that my image was a Gold Winner in The European Photography Awards, in the Professional category under Fine Art Photography – Travel. Thank you to the judges – I’m just tickled to no end. :)
Have a great weekend, everybody! Hope to see some of you here in Salt Lake City tonight, then it’s off to Crown Burger for….well…a burger! (and a yummy one at that).
