About The Author

  1. those 360s are cool! Moose dabbles a bit in eberything!

  2. I was lucky enough to win a recent DTownTV comment prize and Laurie’s new book was part of it. The book is great, I’m not a big wildlife photographer but now I will give it a try! Thanks, KT

  3. Count me in for the DVD giveaway :). I’ve watched Frank’s classes on Kelby Training not just once and I love his work. I am working on my light meter skills now as I never used one before.

  6. Frank’s got a very cool teaching style – Thanks for the heads-up!

  7. That’s a lot of great giveaways

  11. Since I don’t have the time or money to fly to Boston from Sweden, why not leave a comment and hope for the best? :-)

    Thanks /Anders

  27. I have to say the Frank has opened my mind and eyes to a different way to approach the way of seeing and taking a photograph. I embrace the idea of a light meter, I just have a hard time being accurate with the measurement and calibration. I’m more of a visual learner than a reader. I wish I could afford to get to Boston to take his class.

  28. Thanks for all the great info and goodies! I’m always excited to see new work from Laurie and Moose.

  29. Both of the “give aways” sound like great deals, I could use either one to improve my work.

  30. Please enter me for a chance to win Frank’s DVD. Been very impressed with his Kelby Training stuff….

  44. Scott,
I always look forward to Free Stuff Thursdays :) Frank is a really fun instructor to learn from. You did a great job getting him over to the states to record some classes for Kelby Training. Another cool thing about Frank, which a lot of people don’t know, is that he’s a fellow guitar player and he’s into Metal, which is cool in my book. I would love to win this DVD!!!

  45. I’ve seen Frank’s work on Google+. Would love to see how he does it. Winning his DVD would be asesome.

Wildlife photography has always been one of those things that I never get started on, so I would love to get a hold of Laurie’s book. I also run a photo club for middle school kids and would love to see what Frank is teaching so I can help the kids get started on their projects.

  52. Cool pictures by Moose and great giveaways by you guys… Free Stuff Thursday rules!

  53. love frank’s work. I look forward to new kelby training video with him!

  54. Frank and Laurie are two of the best teachers I’ve encountered and learned from in the past ten years when I first picked up an SLR. They’ve both assisted in my growth and understanding of how to use light to create great photos. Thanks to Scott for bringing them into the Kelby training family and photoshop user world.

  57. I think it would be really great if Scott would do a “Travel” course for Kelby Training!

  58. Frank’s work is otherwold good! Iwant to learn how!

  59. I would love either one. I had a chance to shoot with Laurie at a DLWS workshop three years ago on San Juan Island, Washington. She is loads of fun and a really great instructor and photographer. (Brad, you were there, too!)

By the way, Brad and Scott, when I went to post this comment, someone elses name and email address were filled in the blanks. I remember when the same thing happened over on Matt’s blog awhile back. Thought you would want to know.)

  60. I love Frank’s training class’s on Kelby Training. I also love wildlife photography so it’s a toss up.

  61. I’d don’t mind winning the free stuff. :)

  62. It’s great to not only see Laurie’s photos, but getting the explanations on how she took them is an incredible help to taking photos. I know it would be a worthwhile book to have. Hint, Hint !

  63. I’d love either one or both would be great. I love learning about photography. I think Kelby training is one of the best places to learn about photography. GREAT JOB.

  64. Would love to get the dvd or book. Always ready to learn more about photography!

  65. I am currently reading Laurie’s book on Composition and would love to read her wildlife book. She is an awesome photographer.

  66. Frank Doorhoff’s DVD looks pretty cool.

  67. Tough call…lots of options here, but just don’t have the coin to purchase even at the discounted prices. If I had the funds, I’d say get one of everything! :-)

Hrmm, the DVD or the book? Yes! Both look fantastic.

My radar is now on, hoping you’re bringing the show on the road to Minneapolis sometime this year!

  76. Lauries book would be wonderful to win. Thanks you guys.

  77. I would love a copy of Wildlife Photography. We live in the middle of a pasture and see all kinds of critters 365 days a year. Instead of an unfocused mess, I would love to be able to capture the beauty of these animals.

  78. I love Laurie’s wildlife images!

  79. I missed Frank in Boston. I’d love to win his DVD

  80. You can never have enough tools. Both the Frank Doorhof DVD and the Laurie Excell book would make great additions to my tool box.

  106. OK, I’ll leave a comment for a two chances, thanks for the giveaways.

  107. Just a heads up, the “Leave a Reply” box comes up on my computer with other folk’s names until I refresh the page….. which leave the door open for someone (not me ;-) to speak in someone else’s name and info.

You might want to check that out.

  108. Another great installment, love to win either one of those. It will help me out a tons!

  109. Yeah there is something wrong with the comments it is exposing other people’s email when Leave a reply form loads with the name they put in.

  153. Thanks for the chance to win DVD or book.

  154. I would love to see some kelbytraining come to the northern jersey area or ny, ny!

  155. Scott –

First, The Grid w/ Zack was fun, funny and informative! I always pick up so much. I put down the $200.00 for his One Light set a year ago, really great investment. Of course I’d love to see Zack teach on KT. Something new, as he asked, that’s a tough one as he’s covered so much to date. Why not “A Day with Zack Arias” – it’s worked well with Jay & Joe (awesome) and that real world, in the trenches how’s and why’s are fun and really valuable!

Oh yes, I’d also like to enter for Franks’ dvd! His classes on KT, Awesome (but I still don’t own a light meter – ha!)

  156. Going to try to make your seminar in Austin. Soonest ffm

  157. I would love, love, love Frank’s book!!!!

  162. I enjoy the blogs, grids, grunts, and grinds. Wish i knew to enter for Ricks DV trip, so I’ll enter for Laurie’s wildlife book for my up and coming sister who is an enthusiastic hobbiest and mostly shoots wildlife around her lake. See ya tomorrow on the Grid Live. Jock Goodman
