I just got a chance to see Joe McNally’s photo feature in their special “2007 Masters Preview” April edition of Golf Digest, called “Inside & Outside The Gates of Augusta National” and it’s just absolutely fascinating. Joe just has a way of really capturing the essence of whatever he shoots, whether it’s people or places, and this article does both in an amazing way. The 12 page feature has just one large photo on each page with a caption, and what’s so captivating about the photos (and the story) is that it’s not the typical kind of photo you’d expect to see in a golf magazine. It’s much more of a photo documentary of Augusta, its history and its residents, and it’s just really refreshing to see it covered in this fashion. Congrats to Joe, and also to Golf Digest for bringing this type of feature, and this kind of photography, to such a great magazine. Pick it up on your local newsstand and see for yourself.
