Hi Gang: I just woke up a few minutes ago (I shot the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s College Bowl Game last night between Southern Miss and Louisville for Southcreek Global Media), and I didn’t get back home until after 2:00 am.
I was allowed to bring an Editor to the game with me, so I could keep shooting while the editor picks out the images each quarter, processes them, adds all the metadata, and uploads them to Southcreek, and I was lucky enough to have Matt Kloskowski as my editor (He didn’t get home until after 2:00 am either). As expected, Matt did an awesome job.
Anyway, what does all this have to do with the “Missing Guest Blog Mystery?” I just got an email from Jeff Revell asking, “Hey, did you forget to schedule today’s guest blog post?” Actually, it’s worse than that. I forgot that Brad and I had decided that we’d take the next two Wednesday’s off from our Guest Blog Wednesday, but I totally forgot to mention that yesterday (totally my fault. Sorry about that).
So…..please consider this your official announcement that today, and next Wednesday, we’ve “takin’ off.” In fact, outside of a last minute “Pimpy Thursday” I think it’s a pretty safe bet that on Friday, the blog will out shopping for last minute Christmas gifts. :)
Again, sorry about not letting you know in advance about the missing Guest Blog today, but I hope I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
Hey Scott…whoo hoo I am the first to post!! How is your impression of Southcreek? I have submitted my request for services to them on several occasions and have never heard back.
Happy Holidays!
Yea that was strange… First thing I do in the morning is check your blog to see whats going on and bam!!! nothing new today. My morning coffee just didnt taste the same after that. Its good to hear that there is someone still out there :). Hey by the way with new years coming up, and plenty of fireworks in the sky, is it possible to do some tips on shooting fireworks??? thanks, happy holidays to everyone at Kelby Media!! Continue the good work in 2011
Luis, I wait up till Scott posts, usually about 12:35am….finally gave up at about 3:00am! :)
Luis,
It’s the second thing for me every morning. I have to make the necessary pit stop first! :)
Mike
Well, have a good holiday!
Ah, the case of the Missing Guest Blog has been solved! Scott, understand that we are like crack addicts and need our morning fix of Kelby blogging goodness EVERY day! Except for weekends and Thursdays…(no offense, Brad!) :D
Thanks for the update!
–John
I have a mystery of my own. How do I get a picture or icon next to my name when I post a comment?
Go to gravatar.com and register with an email. Easy!
It’s totally okay that you forgot. I run my own blog, and as a designer, illustrator, blogger and more, I definitely know that sometimes it can be difficult to keep up with everything. You take care of yourself and your family during the holidays. It will be good for you to recharge your battery a little anyway, so that you can have a rockin’ start to the new year. I wish you and your crew the best during the holiday season!
Hey, Scott:
Was just watching SportsCenter on ESPN. They were showing the Southern Miss/Louisville game highlights. At one point in the 4th quarter, #88 of Southern Miss leaps to catch a touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone over one defender. There’s a photographer in the background standing up getting the shot with his 70-200 Nikon (no white lens), wearing jeans and a black top. Big lens on a monopod leaning up against the wall behind him. Two photographers in yellow shirts kneeling next to him, by a big advertisement for “Wall Street”. Was that you? Was Matt standing next to you, wearing bags on a belt?
If it was you, that must have been an awesome shot! Hope you share some of those photos.

OMG, THE RAGE!!!! NO GUEST BLOG….my week is ruined.
Nah, just kidding, the whole Kelby group works really hard to keep us up to date with todays inspiration, photography techniques, and advances. Is just fair you guys take some time off during this holidays, and spend some times with your families.
To the Kelby group, thanks for a year filled with invaluable info and good will.
Happy Holidays!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! Hope Santa gives everyone what they wish for (as long as you’re on the nice list of course).
Scott,
Go and get those last min things! We will be fine (with a little xtra meds). Hope everyone in NAPP land has a safe and Merry Christmas! I think I heard your wife mention she would like a new tilt shift lens. :)
KT
Merry Christmas to you too Ken!
Hey Ken,
I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a great & safe New Year! Please tell Eddie Pearson and his crew the same for me.
See ya hopefully soon,
Mike
Thanks Mike and Alex! I’ve already informed Eddie you will probably want to shoot it again next year!
LoL! Yeah, I was wondering this morning where the blog was. We’ll survive – Scott, take some personal time and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year!
P.S.: I pimped your (and Matt’s) books on my blog; hope that’s ok ;) – http://luxludus.com
Scott,
There is only one way to make up for such an unforgettable error ;-)
and that is to release the “Corporate Portraits Part 2” with Joe McNally on KelbyTraining.com BEFORE Christmas, so that all the subscribers (so bitterly disappointed by the absence of the guest blog today ;)) can enjoy it during the few days off.
On a more serious note: Merry Christmas to all the Kelby Media gang.
Well, this much pretty destroys Christmas for me. Do we get a refund or just a credit…?
:-)
Hi Scott & Matt,
If anyone deserve a mistake every now and then you two do! You guys have a very Merry Christmas. I just hope all of you have a Safe and Wonderful Holiday!
Mike
Hi Scott:
You shots from the Jets-Steelers game are beautiful. If you send me the shot of Darrelle Revis making the hit on #17 of the Steelers (with the ref. in the background) I’ll see if Darrelle will sign it. His agent is a family friend. Of course, you may know Darrelle personally, in which case, never mind!
Thanks again for all your inspiration.
Regards,
Gary Levine
Dear Scott and friends,
Happy Christmass to you all. I wish everything the best for and I wish a very sharpen happiness and very gaussian blur sadness next year for you.
Have fun,
Mohammad Khezri
Enjoy your week and last-minute shopping. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
