The story behind the shot

It’s #TravelTuesday and I, Dave Williams, am here again! This week I write from Iceland where I’m currently on a whirlwind tour of the island with Adobe Sr. Principal Designer, Russell Preston Brown. My role on this tour is to capture the BTS moments and offer my expertise on Iceland and the northern lights. This is what I want to talk to you about today.

Take a look at this photo. This is one of three bucket list shots that made up this adventure. Russell will agree when I say that part of the process is telling and showing the story behind the shot.

I’ve written before about the importance of ‘Behind The Scenes’ stories, and it’s so important that I’ll write about it again today.

As photographers we rely heavily on relationships with our clients and prospective clients. To build that relationship through trust and intimacy we can show how we work, how fun yet professional we are, how we manage our gear, and how cool it would be to work together.

We all have a thirst for information and a certain inquisitiveness within us. We can feed that through our BTS content.

Showing BTS stills and video, like this, gives people that insight and feeds their curiosity. It’s a fantastic way to show our potential and it’s another marketing method, as well as being a tool to grow our social media audience. I can’t stress enough how BTS content can help us to grow as photographers.

Have a think on that and enjoy your Tuesday!

Much love

Dave
