Today is Veterans Day here in the US, and I wanted to take a moment to honor and thank the men and women who have served in our country’s military, and who fought to defend the very freedoms we enjoy today. America owes you a debt of gratitude for your service and sacrifice, and I just wanted to join in with a heartfelt thanks.

http://youtu.be/nF-y8xjR9HE#aid=P-t-5dMcj00 (1) Guess who is our in-studio guest on "The Grid" tomorrow? Oh yeah--#shebang --- it's the man himself --- Peter Hurley (wild cheers ensue!). The master of the headshot (see above) is in the house! Here's here working on a project with us, and he's our guest tomorrow at 4:00 pm ET LIVE on the air. We might (I have to confirm with Peter first), do our blind critiques episode (in which case, it would be portraits only), so keep an eye out on my Facebook, G+ or Twitter pages tomorrow for the link to upload your images in case we go that route, but ya never know. Here's the scoop: Who: Peter Hurley, live in-studio What: Tomorrow's episode of "The Grid" (our weekly photography talk show) Where: http://www.kelbytv.com/thegrid When: 4:00 pm ET (New York Time) Why: Because we do this every Wednesday…

Today is Memorial Day in the United States, and our offices are closed as we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. This post is also dedicated each year to the memory of David Leimbach, (shown above; the brother of our friend and colleague Jeff Leimbach), who died five years ago in combat in Afghanistan. Just a humble word of thanks to the dedicated men and women of our armed services and to all those who came before them who laid down their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy each day.

The new issue of "Light It" magazine is here! We publish a magazine for the iPad for people into hot shoe flash and/or studio lighting and the latest issue is now available for download from the App Store (that's the cover above, with a cover shot by yours truly --- it's from my regular column called "Lighting Recipes" where I show the final image, and then the behind-the-scenes images, camera set-up, lighting set-up and the whole ball of wax so you can not only see how it's done, you can do it yourself. Lots of awesome stuff in this issue, so I hope you'll check it out. Stay with me at the Rosen Centre Hotel If you're joining us in Orlando in April for the Photoshop World Conference & Expo, stay where me and all the instructors are staying — the Rosen Centre Hotel (a…

Hi Gang: Greetings from a rainy night in Philadelphia (iPhone photo above was taken pressed against my hotel room window right before a huge rain storm hit last night), where today I'm doing my "Photoshop for Photographer's Tour." Here's just a few quick things: (1) Dave Black's class on Shooting High School football is absolutely getting just rave reviews. I see incredible comments daily on Twitter, Facebook and G+, and if you're a kelbytraining.com online subscriber, even if you don't think you'll be shooting high school football, I guarantee you'll learn great things for any sports from Dave's online class. He is truly a gifted teacher. (2) I've made my transition off my Drobos and I want to do a full blog post on it, but I've got so much on my plate right now I won't be able to do it justice with just…
