The Worldwide Photo Walk Leader Competition Winner Announced!

This was another really tough one. In fact, I’d say this year’s Leader Competition had the best images submitted of any year yet, and that makes picking one winner a really tough decision. Really tough.

I’m announcing the winning image, and three honorable mentions that were all in the running (and any one could have easily have been the winning image â” it was that close!).

THE WINNER
Congratulations to our 2014 Worldwide Photo Walk Leader Competition, Israel Zapata from Spain.

I just loved this shot â” I love the sense of movement, the expression on the subjects face, and how the photographer captured the feeling of being right there alongside him. Really well done.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
These leader shots didn’t win, but were so good I thought they deserved special mention. Here they are (in no particular order):

Above: This was has such a whimsical quality to it. Great timing â” great capture!

Above: Did you catch that this photo was taken with a cell phone camera?

Above: I love the color, composition, and simplicity of this shot. Great eye!

Congratulations to all the Leaders who entered, and a special thanks to everyone who gave their times and talents as a leader. :)

All my best,

-Scott

P.S. Next up: The People’s Choice Awards :)

  1. I agree with the whimsical quality of the Minnie Mouse image. I like the play of the colorful bath houses against the drab background. The smile on the piper’s face is nice enough, but the rest of these images don’t really do anything for me. It must be hard to sort through thousands of images though.

  2. Congrats to the winner and the honorable mentions! It would be difficult to choose. It’s a shame that screen grabs have been posted here though. I’d love to see the originals. I like the one with Minnie Mouse but I’ll be honest the others don’t do much for me. I viewed the winning image on the photographers photo stream and I’m struggling to see what you see in it Scott. The expression on the subjects face is great but it’s just too soft to really grab your attention. But that’s the subjective nature of photography! Thanks for another great walk Scott and I’m looking forward to 2015!!

  3. It’s mine!!!!! WOW!!! I can’t believe it!!!! Wow!!! Thank you so much to Scott for bringing me the opportunity to organize the photowalk of my city, I loved the experience!!! And thank you for choosing my photo!!!!

  4. Congratulations to the winner Israel a beautiful shot! Also congrats to the honorable mentions great work, I love the clean simple image offered by Pepe. Finally a huge thank you to Scott for taking the time to evaluate and choose his favorites from all the images.
