Tuesday News Stuff

Howdy folks:
I had something different planned for today, but it didn’t work out, so…how ’bout some news?

Epson Releases New Stylus Pro 3880 Printer
I know, you probably read about this last week on Dave Cross’ blog, but just in case you missed it: “Hey, Epson released the 3880!” (shown above—photo courtesy of Epson). This replaces the Epson Stylus® Pro 3800 (which I loved so dearly), but this promises to be even better thanks to a new ink set with a wider color range (including “more dramatic blues and violets”), enhanced black and white printing, and new imaging technology that according to Epson “…provides smoother color transitions and better highlight and shadow detail.” Sweet! Can’t wait to get my hands on one and give you guys the low down, but in the meantime you can read the full release over at Dave’s blog, or head over to Epson’s 3880 page right here.

David Ziser kicks off 2nd leg of Nationwide Wide Tour today
Famous wedding photographer and instructor David Ziser is kicking off the 2nd leg of his “Digital Wake Up Call” tour today, starting in Indianapolis, and then heading onto to St. Louis, Kansas City, Omaha, and well…pretty much everywhere he didn’t hit in the first leg. Here’s a link to his site for a list of cities and dates, and full tour info. David’s workshop rocks—-it’s highly recommended!

The World Wide Photo Walk “People’s Choice Award” Winners
This one slipped by a lot of folks so I thought I mention that the winners for the  World Wide Photo Walk “People’s Choice Award” have been announced and you can see the top 25 picks right here, including the winning image chosen by you guys (well, you guys who voted anyway). Really great to see these additional images being honored in this brand new category.

The Photo Walk Photo Book Idea Has Legs
Thanks to everybody who last week shared their ideas and opinions on the World Wide Photo Walk book idea. It really gave me a lot to think about (including a lot of things I hadn’t thought about), and this week we’ll take a closer look at what’s involved, now that I have new ammunition (and new hurdles) I hadn’t considered before. Thanks again for helping me sort this one out.

Tomorrow’s Special Guest Blogger is……
…a man unlike any other man. He’s just a heartbeat away from Joe McNally, and should Joe not be able to fulfill his duties as Mr. Photo Universe, his able-bodied full-time assistant (who took over where Brad Man, the Bad Man, left off), would step in and take the shot (thus saving the job). Yes folks, in our continuing series which features guest blogs from full-time photo assistants, this week we feature Joe McNally’s assistant; the one, the only…Drew Gurian.

All kidding aside, Drew is a really great guy, and a very talented concert and wedding photographer in his own right, and I’m really looking forward to reading his guest post tomorrow here on the blog, so please drop by and make him feel welcome.

That’s it for this Tuesday
Have a great one everybody. Make it count! :-)
